What is a children's advocacy center?
A child-focused facility where law enforcement, child protective services, and other professionals come together to investigate abuse, help children heal, and hold offenders accountable. Child Protect is the CAC serving Montgomery County.
What does Child Protect do?
We provide forensic interviews, counseling for children ages 3 to 18, and family advocacy. Everything we do is free.
How does a child get referred?
Children are referred by Alabama DHR or law enforcement. Families cannot refer themselves. Contact Montgomery County DHR at 334-293-3100 or Montgomery Police at 334-625-2651.
Can I bring my child directly?
No. All referrals come through DHR or law enforcement.
What happens at a forensic interview?
A single, recorded conversation between your child and a trained professional in a room designed to feel safe. Investigators watch from another room.
Is there any cost?
Never. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit funded by the community.
How do I report suspected child abuse?
If immediate danger: call 911. Montgomery County DHR: 334-293-3100. Police non-emergency: 334-625-2651. Outside Montgomery: Alabama DHR 334-242-9500.
Does Child Protect offer counseling?
Yes. Free, confidential, trauma-informed counseling for children ages 3 to 18 who have been seen at our center.

Absolutely. Free presentations on awareness, prevention, mandated reporting, and more.
